Acts 2:42-47
The Practices

This Sunday we will start our next series on the Practices of Jesus-  The practice of Community.  We will start out by looking at the example of the early church and how they practiced community.  In Acts 2 we are told what these initial gathering of Jesus followers looked like.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭42‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The early church was devoted to 4 things: godly teaching, godly fellowship, a shared meal, and prayer.

That's it.  No lights, no sound system, no special programs or events.  Just time spent together around tables, in homes, talking about Jesus and loving one another.  And wouldn't you know it, God did something amazing—the church grew rapidly and many lived were transformed by the Gospel!

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭46‬-‭47‬ ‭NIV‬‬
